Meet the Founders
Siblings Amina and Abdiaziz Abdalla founded Techno Tinkers with their father, Abdigani Hussein, in 2018.
Abdigani has been a principal engineer in the semiconductor industry for over twenty years. He has worked at IBM and currently is a senior engineer at NXP Semiconductors. Prior to founding Techno Tinkers, Abdigani was disappointed in the lack of STEM education opportunities for students who could not take computing classes in his community. He also wanted to serve as a mentor for underrepresented students considering an engineering career. As an engineering professional, Abdigani ensures that Techno Tinkers’ electronics kits consist of quality materials for students learning to program. He is the President of Techno Tinkers.
Amina is a sophomore at MIT studying biological engineering. She is passionate about technology and spreading STEM education in her community. Amina is a two-time winner of the National Honorable Mention award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT). She’s also earned local recognition for her work. In the summer of 2020, Amina earned a $3000 grant to create and teach a week-long, girls-only computing camp. She partnered with Latinitas, a nonprofit in the Austin area, to host the camp. Amina is the Director of Education for Techno Tinkers. She writes our program curricula and helps manage program logistics.
Abdiaziz is a freshman at UT Dallas studying biomedical engineering. He is fascinated by programming and its applications to the sciences. As the Program Operations Director for Techno Tinkers, Abdiaziz manages the programs developed and organized by our organization. He also oversees our community outreach efforts, emphasizing partnerships with organizations that serve minority and low-income students. Abdiaziz builds projects for our Introduction to Python and Introduction to the BBC micro:bit courses. He is a Python tutor and volunteers at his local library. In his free time, Abdiaziz does scientific research and practices mobile app development.
Fuad is a high schooler with an inate passion and drive for engineering and computer science . Awarded with a multitude of STEM accomplishments and with a history of excelence in debate, he joined Techno Tinkers with the goal to help proliferate STEM curricula to his peers who didn’t have access to the same quality instruction. He prides himself in sharing his expertise through workshops and community programs.
